13 levels however only 2 are not flooded and the second one needs to be pumped out a couple of times a year. Nobody is sure exactly how many miles the mine is because they have found tunnels that are not on the drawings, and that\u2019s just on the first 2 levels.<\/p>\n
The tour was of a copper mine closed down many years ago, and while big in my mind at 13 levels with several miles of tunnels and in business for several years it never did show a profit. That is until they started giving tours.<\/p>\n
So, we went on a tour at the Adventure Mine today. They said it was 48 degrees in the mine, I\u2019m not sure it was that cool, but we were kept on the move with frequent stops. We stayed on the first level, to go down to the second level is a different tour and you rappel down a 45 degree incline to reach it. I would very much like to go back and take that tour but I don\u2019t think my shoulder will allow me to.<\/p>\n
The openings are not at the spot where you buy your tickets, so they take you to the opening in a Swiss Army troop carrier. You better hang on tight, that\u2019s all I can say, the drivers made sure you arrived in record time:)<\/p>\n
It was a very interest tour, our tour guide, who looked like she was in middle school but, said she was a freshman in college, majoring in geology, knew a lot about the mine. At only 5 foot tall, and about as big around as a small toothpick, she didn\u2019t need to watch out for as many of \u00a0the low hanging rocks as much as most of the rest of us. Hard hats were supplied and required. \u00a0GOOD thing tooooo:)<\/p>\n
Then at dusk and not worth it\u2019s own posting we went back to the lake for another try at some sunset pictures. Certainly nothing to brag about this trip.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
