Are we nuts??

We have bought a different motorhome and putting the Big Guy up for sale.

For quite a while we each thought, but didn’t voice, that it would be nice to have a smaller unit that we could get into so many more Campgrounds.

We did a lot of research before we bought our big rig, we knew from the beginning that we would not be able to get into most state and federal parks. My reasearch said there there were a number of private parks near popular areas. I feel that was very miss leading.

Over the course of the summer we discovered, in the UP at least, that very few parks that can accept big rigs and those are booked weeks if not months in advance, that’s just not the way we roll. And they were much more expensive.

The new, to us, RV is far from new and certainly nothing fancy.

What we really wanted to get, so much so that we rented a car and drove to Florida to check out a few, was an old GMC, the ones with the 2 sets of wheels in the back. Dang, storage in those is practically non existence but the real deal breaker was the Jeep, is to heavy to pull with it, some people do pull something heavier but we felt better safe than sorry. Believe it or not parts are still readily available, VIA the internet for just about every part on one. That was another reason we wanted one, vintage looks with easy access to parts.

We also looked at a few 19-22 ft vans but decided that that might be a little to small.

The new RV may end up being to small for us but we’re looking at it as a 2-3 year commitment, if things go according to plan. You’ll just need to follow along to find out what those plans are.

After 2-3 years we’ll decide what we’re going to do, if the Big Guy hasen’t sold by then we may move back into it.

While we both agree that we could not have went from our house to a 28ft class B, basically an overgrown van. We feel that we can downsize to the class b with out to much of a problem, yes it will be a change. But one that we’re looking forward to with the large number of grounds and cheaper options that are now open to us.

Here in the frozen north where we need to run the heater and can’t even think about opening the windows, moisture control might become a challenge. I guess I may need to go back to the University of YouTube for ideas.

Right now we’re parked beside Mary’s Moms barn and just have one 15 amp extension cord so we need to really monitor what we have on, once we get on the road and when we’re in campgrounds we will be able to run a fan to move the air around and hopefully keep condensation under control.

Last but not least, not that this is a hint or anything, but —— at 28 feet the new RV will fit in most (level) driveways:)

We have bought a different motorhome and putting the Big Guy up for sale.
