I was going to call this, I can see for miles and miles, because when we entered the park the views were spectacular. However the deeper into the park we got the more my stomach started growling.<\/p>\n
Before we left home we discussed making sandwiches to take with us. Other topics and problems came up and the sandwiches were forgotten that is until we were well inside the park and my stomach started to grumble.\u00a0It\u2019s just a good thing we had plenty of snack bars that we always carried, in the jeep, backpacks.<\/p>\n
Obviously the important note to self is to do more than think about taking food with us.<\/p>\n
Mesa Verda Park is massive I don\u2019t know how big it is but its well over 20 miles from the entrance to the end of the road, that\u2019s not counting all the side loops. We spent most of the day just driving and looking from the lookouts. Also one of the long roads was closed for the season, had it been open we would not had time to drive and stop at all the overlooks.<\/p>\n
We plan to go back and do a few actual hikes. Most are less than 2 miles long but at 7500 feet even short walks have you breathing hard, so a moderate to strenuous hike will probably be most taxing. They must be and kinda dangerous to because you need to resister at the trail head for the hikes.<\/p>\n
One of the things I was really looking forward to has been discontinued for the season, that\u2019s guided hikes down to the ruins. They have those trails closed for the season.<\/p>\n
Yes, it was getting dark again by the time we got home.<\/p>\n
