This morning started with another county \u201croad\u201d adventure. We were searching for Sprit Cave and by gosh I\u2019m about 75% sure we found it, we found some ruins anyway. These were back under an overhang in a rocky gully. We didn\u2019t need to do tooooo much rock climbing, this time. We did stop in the wrong place the first time.<\/p>\n
We followed the road\u00a0 <\/span>for a few miles before turning off on a side trail. The ground is reddish and mostly a clay I believe.<\/p>\n There are the remains of several stone structures there along with room for several more. It\u2019s interesting to walk around the ruins and try to imagine what life was like for the inhabitants and why they chose to build where they did.<\/p>\n These ruins were not as inaccessible as others like at Mesa Verde, they were almost easy to get to and not far from the top of the mesa(?). Currently the area is surrounded by mostly cedar trees. I don\u2019t know what the area looked like when then the area was inhabited.<\/p>\n After we left the ruins we continued on down the road, some places it was gravel others it reddish and muddy looking, not soft enough to sink just soft enough to see tire tracks. As mentioned earlier we were kinda on top of the mesa, now it was time to go down, it\u2019s a narrow one lane road with a few blind corners. Guess what at the bottom we go back up the other side. Once we hit pavement we headed home.<\/p>\n Most of the road had just been graded, and before to long we found the road grader parked off the road.<\/p>\n The weather changed for today, the high is to be in the mid forties, which we knew but the wind, man, need to hold on to the steering wheel. We got back around 12:00, just in time to eat the sandwiches we had packed with us. The last 2 days we have eaten lunch out some place.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
