Being an old town many of the streets are brick, it looks like they have taken pains to keep the brick in what was once the down town area. The brick streets are very smooth and in good shape.

Oh, and one other thing we have noticed all over out here ( TX-AZ-NM), they have never heard of low fat or diet anything………. anything along those lines is hard to find with any selection at all.

They do sell a lot of lard, yup, good ole lard. Each store has a good sized area for lard. Some stores even had it in 3 gallon tubs.

3/13/2019

We’re sitting tight, tonight will be our 6th night here, We’re in a small city park that gives you 4 nights for free, with no place else we needed to be we took them up on it. We’re dragging out feet to be some place on the 22, more on that later in another post.

Studying the weather we decided we should hunker down for 2 more nights waiting out some bad weather. The first 4 days were nothing to write home about. Small town without much to do in the area, at least we had a good internet signal, if we moved me might not have such a good signal.

Anyway, in the morning the fog was so thick, it was hard to tell if another vehicle was coming at the cross streets, we need to track down where to pay for our 2 additional nights. The rest of the day was just dark overcast. Last night about dusk the storms that they had been predicting all day finally arrived. Wind, lighting, small HAIL, Tornado Warnings. You name it and we had a warning for it.

I finally went to sleep about 1:00, woke up this morning to sunshine and no wind, we were beginning to think the HIGH wind warnings in the forecast for the past several days, for today, might be wrong.

Boy, am I glad we decided not to move today!!! About 9:00 this morning the winds arrived. Wind gust up 70MPH. I think we’re just low enough in a small valley that the worst is skipping just over heads, we’re still shaking pretty good though.

2:00PM the power went out (for about 1/2 hour) and even after a good deal of rain last night the wind is really kicking up the dust now.

2/8/2019 Elevation 2936 On our 100 mile northerly drive today the landscape changed from scrubby looking brush land, filled with oil wells to massive fields being plowed, many looked like they might going to be planted in cotton juggling by the tell tail little whites pecks left over from last years cotton plants.
