No driveways, no billboards & no commercial vehicles<\/p>\n
We drove the entire 444 miles of the Natchez Trace, it goes from Natchez MS to Nashville TN.<\/p>\n
The trace runs through 3 states Mississippi, the upper west corner of Alabama and Tennessee. The speed limit is 50 mph for most of the way but there are a few curvy miles in TN where it\u2019s 40.<\/p>\n
There are a lot of historical markers along the way and several hiking trails, if you stopped at all the pull offs you\u2019d never reach the end.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The entire drive is a 2 lane highway but no commercial traffic and no driveways, there is not a lot of traffic, at least at the end of March.<\/p>\n There are also 3 free campgrounds along the trace.<\/p>\n We stayed at all 3 of them and spent 2 nights at the northern most one, Meriwether Lewis. This is where he died (Meriwether Lewis 1774-1809) and is buried. On the full day at the CG we hiked a couple of miles and about a mile of it was the original trace. There are many places where the original trace is marked as you drive.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a good drive provided you like to take it easy and slowdown. I\u2019m glad we drove it and plan to drive at least parts of it again.<\/p>\n One of the short trails we stoped at was through a cypress swamp. Having never seen a cypress tree I thought it was interesting.<\/p>\n This is probably the last post until May.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
